Steve Pierce worked on the data cleansing project at Ford Motor Company in Cologne, Germany. The project was managed by Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) and its purpose was to design a new Oracle based Data Validation and Reporting (DVR) system which would help Ford employees to improve the data quality of the pricing information sent out to 6000 Ford dealers in 19 European countries. Steve could listen well to the customers and was able to translate their wishes into technical solutions very quickly. We were often able to demonstrate a prototype to the client just a few days after we discussed a new business requirement.

The system designed by Steve was able to handle text data in 15 European languages used by Ford dealers. The system proved to be robust and end-user friendly. Steve's ideas also helped to streamline the data model and the physical implementation of the underlying Oracle database. Steve's activities on the project included creation of a new web development environment at CSC: installation of Perl and Apache web server on SCO Unix and Linux machines, customization of Perl database interface modules for Oracle 7.3.4 and Oracle8.

Linux was suggested by Steve as a reliable development platform to CSC and was used ever since on diverse development projects.To summarize, I can attest that Steve Pierce is able to provide end-to-end web development services in a complex business environment.
